The quality and depth of its alumni can define a university. Their active loyalty and commitment play a vital role in striving to fulfill the university's mission and goals.

The USC Sumter Alumni Association held its first annual meeting on May 17, 1994. At this inaugural meeting, they elected officers and adopted the Constitution and By-laws. This momentous occasion came about due to the hard work and dedication of a small group of loyal alumni who desired to assist in the mission of USC Sumter. They stated their desire to support the students through scholarships and by promoting the continued growth and vision of the university.

Since 1994, the Alumni Association has continued to grow in strength and numbers. The alumni have sponsored the Big Wednesday Golf Tournament and Indoor Tailgate Party since November 1994. This annual fundraiser, along with the designation of fifty percent of membership dues, has enabled the Alumni Association to endow three scholarships, the Alumni Association Scholarship, Big Wednesday Academic Scholarship and the Big Wednesday Athletic Scholarship. We also continue to support various activities on campus and within the community.
